Today, members of the Navasota High School Student Council joined with many classes from Webb Elementary, via Zoom, to discuss what it means to have courage and what it looks like to stand up to bullies for yourself and for your friends. The NHS Student Council shared two stories with our Viper friends, “Bully Beans” by Julia Cook and “One” by Katherine Otoshi. The stories encouraged a lot of great questions, discussions, and activities between the Rattlers and the Vipers. Our hope is for all of Rattler Nation to Stand United and Stand Up to bullies.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE From Dr. Musick Regarding Remote Learning Options

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

RE: Update to Remote Learning Option

Parents and Students of Navasota I.S.D. -

Beginning this Tuesday, October 20, 2020, Navasota I.S.D. will return to face-to-face, on-campus instruction for all learners. This decision was determined by the Navasota I.S.D. School Board at a special called board meeting held last night. The Board considered and reviewed information presented by school administrators, teachers, and by family members of students. Information considered included the safety and health concerns of students, staff, and families. Attendance rates and failure rates of remote learners in comparison to on-campus learners was also reviewed. Operational cleaning and disinfection procedures were shared along with the current COVID-19 case numbers for Navasota ISD.

If your child currently participates in remote instruction, they will return to campus beginning next Tuesday, October 20th. Start times for each campus are as follows:
High School: 8:05 a.m. with drop off beginning at 7:35 a.m.
Junior High: 8:15 a.m. with drop off beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Brule & Webb Elementary: 7:45 a.m. with drop off beginning at 7:15 a.m.
High Point Elementary: 7:30 a.m. with drop off beginning at 7:00 a.m.

In the event a student has a confirmed COVID-19 case or is considered a close contact and must be quarantined, asynchronous remote instruction will continue to be provided to support these learners during the quarantine period.

It is our sincere hope that your child will continue to participate in the learning opportunities at Navasota ISD. However, for families who may choose to not have their child(ren) return to on-campus learning, there are other options available. A parent may choose to withdraw their child to home-school. Parents may also choose to transfer their child to another school that is currently offering remote instruction. If a family selects one of these options, please contact the child’s campus to complete the required paperwork indicating your decision for your child’s continued education.

The district appreciates the input shared by families, teachers, and administrators in helping reach the decision that will best serve the learning needs of the children in our community. Thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to educate amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stu Musick, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
